I never seriously planned to try my hand at composition. Sure, I took composition lessons with Earl George at Syracuse University, and with Yehudi Wyner one summer at Yale, but my preoccupation was first with becoming a pianist, and then a harpsichordist – not a composer. It’s only in my “retirement” from Arizona State University, where I taught harpsichord and early music, that I’ve had the time and the inclination to put notes on paper, instead of trying to make them leap off the page.
I’m happy that my pieces have been well received, and that they have brought some measure of joy, solitude, happiness to others. With the exception of Anthony’s Cosmic Adventures I’ve never charged admission to these pieces. Everything else is free – all I ask is that you let me know when you program my music. Simply email me for a PDF file of the music.
You may download any piece you want, and for free. There are no fees for duplication, performance, video, YouTube, whatever. Just please please let me know that you plan to perform my music.
Until this website is completely up and running, you may need to email me for a copy of the music. Harpsichord415@gmail.comby John Metz
