Noel, Noel, Glad Tidings to Tell This is based on a 17th century Noel that I found in a microfilm from the Bibliothèquenationale de France. I wrote three new verses and set it for SATB/Piano. There is an accompaniment for strings available, thanks to Allen Simon, director of the Soli Deo Gloria Chorale in San Francisco. Also available as a soprano/tenor solo with piano. The text is suitable and inspirational for sacred or secular choirs. Contact me for any version or accompaniment for this piece.
The Fire Flower A setting words from Howard Thurman’s Meditations of the Heart. I have two versions – one for cello, piano, narrator and chorus, the other version for piano four-hands, narrator and chorus. The text compares the fire flower with those people in our lives who always seem to have had the right word, the beautiful gesture when we need it most. “Thanks so much, The music is beautiful.” “Thank you so much. How Beautiful!” “We did Fire Flower complete with cello last Spring. It was a hit and the melody of the choral part remains one of my recurring ear worms.”
Three Fables of La Fontaine – for children’s choir and piano. Clever texts (The Ant and the Grasshopper; The Peacock and the Nightingale; The Rat, the Elephant and the Cat.)

Announcing! Anthony’s Cosmic Adventures, a Choral Fantasy based on poems from Frederick Winsor’s A Space Child’s Mother Goose. Music by John Metz. – The Space Child’s Mother Goose was a collection of clever poems written in the 1950s and currently in reprint from Purple House Inc. It’s a 19 minute piece incorporating a variety of ensemble sizes thus highlighting a men’s chorus, full SATB/Piano, and a variety of solo and small ensemble voices. The piece has already been hailed as “brilliant, marvelous,” ”Bravo, so adorable.” See the attachment for more information.
